For the Local Community

Bell ringing brings a perfect combination of physical, social and health benefits:

  • Keep fit

  • Exercise the mind

  • Develop a unique skill

  • Make friends of all ages

  • Visit beautiful, historic churches

  • Celebrate life events: weddings, christenings, Christmas, Easter

  • Pass on a heritage tradition for future generations

Ringing can be included as part of the Skills or Physical sections of the Duke of Edinburgh‘s Award scheme and for Scouts and Guides attainments.

Although bells are usually installed in church towers, ringing throughout its history has been very much a hobby and a social activity. Ringers need have no religious affiliations, and come from a wide range of backgrounds.

Pattishall’s bells attract regular visiting bands of ringers to the village, and to the local pubs, as ringing can be thirsty work!
